The Community Education Program has many components: Adult Education, Adult Basic Education & English as a Second Language, Girls on the Run, Children's Programming, and Building Use.

Adult Education

Adult Education non-credit classes are offered in cooperation with Southeast Community College on a quarterly basis. The Fall 2012 class catalog is now available on-line at http://www.southeast.edu/ or please call 402-362-6700 to request a catalog. Classes include: business, computers & professional development; health; industrial, technical & vocational trades; personal enrichment and special events.

American Heart Association CPR and 1st Aid classes are offered on-going through York Community Education. Please call Community Education Office for schedule.

Adult Basic Education

Since 1970, York Community Education's Adult Basic Education Program has provided classes     for adults who wish to improve their reading, writing, and/or arithmetic skills. The purpose of the program is to provide instruction to adults wishing to improve their education. The goals of the program are to help adults learn basic skills, to help adults prepare for citizenship, to help adults learn English as a Second Language, and to help adults prepare to take the GED test. These goals are carried out by providing learning materials, instruction and tutors for students.

Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (6-9pm) at the York Middle School, GED Classroom #E145. Classes are free of charge.

 

Girls on the Run of York County

Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization that was founded by Molly Barker in 1996 in Charlotte, North Carolina. GOTR of York County started in 2006 and is in partnership with Girls on the Run International, York Public Schools and York County Health Coalition. Building Use: York Middle School Facilities

Usage includes basketball league practices, club meetings, little league activities, adult education classes, children's programming outside the school day, Tae Kwon Do, Girls on the Run, etc.  To schedule an event, please call the Community Education Office.
