Message from Todd Kirshenbaum,YorkTeamMates President
As a TeamMate Mentor, we are slowly making it through another cold Nebraska Winter, it’s nice to know there is a warm smile waiting for us each week when we spend time with our Mentees. School can be hectic and stressful no matter what grade a student may be in, and you help make that day a little bit easier for that student. They look forward to spending time with you because you are a good friend, a good listener and someone they can trust. I take that responsibility very serious as a Mentor and I’m sure you do too.
This spring we have several opportunities to celebrate being a Mentor with TeamMates. Thanks to the generosity of Runza Drive-Ins, there will be a date in April where they will make a donation to local TeamMate chapters based on the sales of that day. Our own Runza owners (and Mentors) Bill and Lorraine Grenfell are enthusiastic supports of Runza Day and I hope you will make it a point to visit Runza that day to support TeamMates. We are also going to have a TeamMates Walk this spring that is a huge fund raiser for TeamMates. It’s something you can do with your Mentee or with other Mentors. Then as the school year closes out, we will gather together for a celebration and recognition to all the employers in the York area who have staff as Mentors…more information to come soon about each of these activities.
