Abuse Awareness

In the month of February, YES students along with Mrs. Kohmetscher, will discuss abuse awareness and Body Safety.  With videos, activities and discussion the students became aware of Stranger Awareness, Good Touch / Bad Touch, and most importantly what to do if someone hurts them or makes them feel unsafe.

Character Education

1st and 2nd grade students are being exposed to Character Education lessons.  Today, to become productive citizens of the future, children need to do more than learn reading, writing and arithmetic.  They also need to develop a set of core values that they can call on throughout their lives to guide their attitudes and behavior.  Character Education focuses on six "building blocks" of character to form the foundation for all of us to build on - trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.  Our hope is that their learning will reach out beyond the classroom - into your child's family and community - where much of the most important learning takes place.

Substance Abuse

Throughout the year Mrs. K will lead a series of lessons with all grade levels on substance abuse and education.  We will focus on knowing the facts and having the tools you need to make good decisions.
