Internet Safety

The Internet has become a tool that has changed the way we communicate and exchange information today.  Unfortunately, it has also become a tool for predators.

It is our responsibility, as parents and teachers, to help young people understand the dangers the internet poses to them.  We have provided you with pages of acronyms, shorthand, and symbols that are commonly used online, including: instant messaging, cell phones, PDAs, Web sites, in newsgroup postings, and on blogs. These 3 documents are in "My Files" below.

"Young or old, no one is immune to the potential dangers that lurk on the Internet. Working together, we can educate our young people about how to safely access all the internet has to offer."
-- Jon Bruning, Attorney General, State of Nebraska
