Dear Parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you and your child to the fourth grade. My name is Shawna Culotta, and I am looking forward to an exciting and fun filled year.
I grew up in Curtis, Nebraska, which is located in the western part of the state. I graduated from Medicine Valley High School in Curtis. My education continued at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln where I received my Bachelor's degree in 1997. I earned my Master's degree from Doane College in 2005. This year I am celebrating my 12th year at York Elementary.
My husband Jeff is the owner/operator of York Carpet Cleaning as well as working for a local heating and air conditioning company. We have a 4 year old, Carter. He is enjoying pre-school. He loves coming to school and pretending to be one of 'mommy's students" as he says. Carter enjoys living in the country with the rabbits and deer, just like his daddy.
It is my goal that we can become partners in your child's education. I will have your child for only a short time of his/her learning journey, and I want to make a contribution that lasts a lifetime. I know my teaching must begin with making your child comfortable in the classroom. This includes helping all students come together into a learning community made up of unique individuals; each with her/her own learning styles, interests, and hopes.
I am looking forward to hearing from you and spending an exciting year together in fourth grade.
