Art Introduction
The overall purpose of this one semester class is to introduce students to the many areas of high school art. Art Introduction is a course designed for students who wish to begin work in the high school art department and those who wish to fill their fine arts requirement. All students will experience success in working in the following areas: Lettering, color, painting, block drawing, perspective drawing, pottery, and others as time allows. The emphasis is on learning about art for all students.
 
Art Exploration
This one year class is designed for the art student who wishes to develop his/her art abilities and those who just enjoy art and wish to become involved in more advanced projects. It can be taken after the completion of Art Introduction. All of the areas that were covered briefly in the introduction class are dealt with in considerable depth. Additional areas covered include watercolor, silk screen, stained glass, markers as an artist's tool, and other areas as time allows. Pottery techniques will be the focus of one quarter of the year.
 
Advanced Techniques in Pottery

Advanced Techniques in Pottery is a one year course that is designed for the serious art student with an interest in developing his/her abilities in pottery. Advanced projects will be the focus of this class. Projects will include mastery of the potters' wheel, wheel-thrown assemblies, sculpture, advanced slab building and an advanced useage of clay, glazes, and underglaze. Projects to construct will be a tea pot, platters, vases, bowls, decorated containers, etc. Any student that has compleated Art Exploration is able to take this class.
 
Advanced Techniques Of Drawing and Painting
After the successful completion of Art Exploration, this class can be taken. Advanced Techniques Of Drawing and Painting is a one year course designed to challenge the serious two-dimensional art student. After a student has successfully completed Art Exploration, they are able to take this course. The areas of concentration will center around drawing in a variety of media and variety of subjects including the human figure. The main areas for consideration will include drawing, watercolor, acrylic, silk screen, block printing, stained glass, and advanced poster making.
 
Graphic Design
This one semester course is designed to give the student a basic introduction to the many and varied graphic arts. Topics for consideration will include typesetting, layout work, package design, advertising, and commercial art. Most of the work will be done on the computer using painting and drawing programs, as well as work processing programs. All students will gain a working knowledge of the Windows 2000 operating system, Corel Draw 8, and Microsoft Word.
