Speech Team Competes at Concordia
The Team Brings Home 2nd Place

On Saturday, January 26, the YHS speech team traveled to Seward to compete in the Concordia University Invitational Speech Contest. It was a good day for the Dukes, with the team boasting many outstanding personal performances and a 2nd Place finish overall.
Ten teams were represented at the meet. The top three schools were Wahoo Bishop Neuman (First Place), York (Second Place) and Omaha Christian Academy (Third Place). Other schools attending the event were Milford, Conestoga, Fairbury, Seward, Malcolm, Thayer Central, and Lincoln Lutheran.
Individual award recipients were as follows:
Matt Heng--1st Place in Persuasive Speaking.
Wyatt Suddarth--1st Place in Informative and 6th place in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Sarah Hotovy-- 2nd Place in Overall Individual Scoring; 2nd Place in Extemporaneous Speaking; 3rd place in Entertainment Speaking; and 3rd Place in Persuasive Speaking.
Melissa Eichinger and Christina Hansen-- 2nd Place in Duet Acting.
Ben Gardner-- 3rd Place in Oral Interpretation of Poetry
Melissa Eichinger-- 5th place in Impromptu Speaking.
