COURSE DESCRIPTION

English 10 is a requires course consisting of units of studies in grammar, composition, research and literature with emphasis upon literature in all genres. Vocabulary study and composition are an outgrowth of the literature study. The focus in grammar is primarily upon language usage.

 Writing is treated as a process, using paragraphs as a springboard. This required course  reinforces the basic writing skills of usage, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation Students write  descriptive narrative and expository  paragraphs and longer papers based on models, research,  personal experience and imagination

Rhetoric is a course in which the writing skills studied in composition are expanded, and they are applied to various assignments. A major project is required a research essay , a biography,or a short story

British Literature is a study of the literature of the British isles. It concerns itself primarily with the works of the major British authors of each period in the history of British literature from the Old English period through the 20th century.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Study the novel as it relates to particular themes and human experience. For example, conflict of culture and values, individual and society, satire, heroism.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

College preparatory Research is a one semester elective to teach students the scientific  research method, how to effectively use the library, communicate the results of their research in writing, and the technical aspects of developing a research paper.
