Human Relations

PREREQUISITE(S):                      Open to 11th and 12th Grades

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Human Relations is a course designed to help students improve their feelings about themselves, strengthen their relationships with others, and raise their level of achievement. The book Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey will be used to help accomplish this purpose. Other topics that will be explored include the following: learning to change negative feelings, conquering depression, eliminating self-defeating thoughts, building high self-esteem, curing procrastination, overcoming fear and anxiety, improving communications skills, managing anger, managing stress, resolving conflicts, setting boundaries, being assertive, clarifying values, changing habits, and developing a healthy lifestyle.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Peer is a course designed to help high school kids find their niche. The students will develop a career plan. In this process, students will look at college costs, college applications, and college catalogs in the search for post-secondary schools. The students will will also research information about a career area they are interested in.The purpose of PEER is to increase young people's self-esteem through group activities. This group interaction program teaches students basic skills in communication, self-awareness, decision-making, and career exploration.
