Course Description


FRESHMAN PHYSICAL EDUCATION..............................7000A
                                   1 Year                                           7000B

PREREQUISITE(S):     None

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course is designed to improve your fitness level, while participating in a variety of activities which are fitness-related, skill-related, and health-related.  Students will alternate days between activity and classroom.

 


STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING....................................7207
                                           1 Semester

PREREQUISITE(S):            Freshman Physical Education or permission by instructor.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:    Weight-training.  Pass/Fail

 


SWIMMING FITNESS.......................................................7205
                                     1st Semester only

PREREQUISITE(S):            Freshman Physical Education, Level VII swimming ability, must complete a 500 yard swim or teacher recommendation.  Class size is limited to 12 students.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:    The course consists of CPR, First Aid, and Basic Lifeguarding certification, along with various other advanced swimming skills and water conditioning activities.  This class is offered 1st semester only. 

 


 

LIFETIME FITNESS..........................................................7206
                                     1st Semester only

PREREQUISITE(S):            Freshman Physical Education
                                         or teacher recommendation

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:    This course is designed to improve your fitness level for a lifetime.  This course will not prepare you for athletic competition, but instead will teach you ways in which to maintain an adequate level of fitness throughout your life.  The course will provide the student with an opportunity to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscle fitness, flexibility, and control body fatness.  This will be accomplished through a variety of activities such as walking, aerobics, jumping rope, bicycling, water aerobics, jogging, and toning.

 



TEAM SKILLS................................................................7208
                                     1st Semester only

PREREQUISITE(S):            Freshman Physical Education or teacher
                                         recommendation

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:    This course will focus on participating in a variety of team activities, as well as continuing to improve fitness levels.  Activities included are: soccer, football, softball, volleyball, basketball, mass games, lacrosse, and handball.  This class is offered 1st semester only.




INDIVIDUAL SKILLS..........................................................7209
                                     1st Semester only

PREREQUISITE(S):            Freshman Physical Education or teacher
                                         recommendation

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:    This class is designed to improve your fitness level and involve the students in various individual and dual lifetime activities.  Activities included are:  tennis, golf, self-defense, badminton, archery, racquetball, and recreational games.
