Mike
Lucas grew up in Florida before attending Benedictine College in
Atchison, KS where he received his B.A. in Elementary Education in
1994.
He began his career in public education by teaching 3rd grade and coaching high school basketball and football at Fort Leavenworth, KS.
He obtained his M.A. in Education Administration from Benedictine College in 1998. He then became K-8 Principal and AD for the USD #506 – Labette County, KS school district from 1998-2000. From 2000-2003, he served as K-6 Principal in West Point, NE.
Mike, his wife Liesl, and their 4 children, then moved to Franklin, NE where he served as superintendent from 2003-09. Mike received his Ed.D in Educational Administration from UNL in December 2007.
He is proud to serve as the superintendent of York Public Schools. In his spare time, he enjoys to golf and fish and spend time with his family. He also teaches leadership courses for UNK and Benedictine College when it does not interfere with his duties at YPS.
